Ceramic brackets – performance and transparency

Transparent brackets also belong to the group of fixed dental braces. Like with any other fixed method the brackets are adhered onto the teeth, using a special adhesive. An individually shaped, elastic orthodontic wire is fed through the individual brackets. On account of the tension exerted by the wire, the teeth are gradually guided into their desired final position. However, transparent brackets are applied in the same way as traditional fixed dental braces (e.g.: metal) but are less noticable and hence a great alternative to metal braces.

The ceramic brackets (also known as „tooth-colored“ brackets) are made of composite material. They are available in various colours and sizes. Hence many patients prefer ceramic, because they literally "blend in" with the teeth and are less noticeable than metal.

There are different brands of transparent brackets that are applied for different requirements. Consult with DDr. Jonke to identify which solution meets your requirements best.
