Here's How Treatment with Removable Braces Works
Initial Consultation & Diagnosis
We’ll examine your child, take X-rays and photos, and create a digital scan of their teeth.
Manufacturing & Customization
The appliance is then custom-made in the lab, fitted to your child, and precisely adjusted. The appliance contains a small screw that gradually widens the jaw.
Regular inspections
About every eight to twelve weeks, we check your progress, adjust the braces, and tighten the screw if necessary.

What are removable braces?
It consists of a custom-made plastic plate—available in your favorite color upon request—that attaches to the teeth with fine wire clips. Small screws and springs apply gentle pressure, thereby guiding the teeth and jaw growth.
So-called interceptive treatment—early treatment with removable braces—is limited to one year. This is followed by a one-year break.

How do removable braces work?

At what age is it a good idea to get removable braces?
Usually between the ages of 6 and 10, that is, during the stages of primary and mixed dentition. At this age, we can make the most of natural jaw growth.
How often does my child need to wear the removable braces?
The daily wear time depends on the type of braces and the treatment goal and will be determined individually for your child.
What happens if my child doesn't wear their braces enough?
Removable braces are effective only while they are being worn. If they are not worn for long enough on a regular basis, treatment will be delayed.
Will my child speak differently with the removable braces?
Speaking may feel a little strange at first. This will go away quickly once your tongue and lips have gotten used to the braces.
How do I clean my removable braces?
Brush it daily with a toothbrush and lukewarm water, and use a cleaning tablet once a week as well. Do not use hot water, or it will warp.
Can my child eat anything with removable braces?
Yes. Your child can simply take the retainer out before eating. That way, there are no restrictions, and the retainer stays clean. Afterward, just brush their teeth briefly and put the retainer back in.
Does health insurance cover removable braces?
Yes, if you have a qualifying malocclusion, your health insurance will cover the costs as part of the free braces program. We’ll determine whether you’re eligible during your initial consultation.
Are removable braces enough on their own?
Not always. Removable braces are primarily used to guide tooth growth and are suitable for mild misalignments in young children. In cases of more severe misalignments, fixed braces are usually needed later on.
What if the removable braces break or get lost?
Just get in touch with us. We’ll take a look at the braces, repair them if possible, or make a new pair if needed.
